Be A Kid For Clean Water!
|
Follow these helpful tip to help keep our beaches and oceans clean...
|
Pick Up 3
Every time you are down at the beach be sure to pick up at least three pieces of trash if you see it.
Click Here to see the Pick Up 3 video, which was created by Del Mar grom Cobi Emery.
Get Your Mind Out Of The Gutter
Next time you or your parents clean the sidewalk or driveway use a broom, not a hose, and make sure all your trash gets into a trash can instead of the gutter.
|
Pull Your Own Weeds
The less herbicides and pesticides (chemicals) you spray, the less of them you will swim in on your next trip to the ocean.
|
Scoop The Poop!
Unless you like to swim in and swallow animal poop, make sure you and your neighbor pick up your animals droppings when you take them on a walk and from around your yard.
|
Don't Be A Drip
Make sure to turn faucets off completely, and get your family to repair any that leak. Dripping faucets waste thousands of gallons of valuable fresh water every day in your neighborhood alone.
|
Watch Your Water
Water your lawn in the mornings or evenings, Plants are happier when they receive more water less often. Plus, the sun won't evaporate the water as quickly when it is not as hot outside.
|
Be a Good Buyer
Vinegar and baking soda clean very well. Be aware of the chemicals you are using in your daily routine. Buy eco-sensitive products to help protect our planet. They are available at the store, right next to the ones you buy all the time.
|
Oil's Well That Ends Well
Make sure your family recycles their used motor oil. Many local car part stores, and oil change businesses will take your used motor oil – some will even pay you for it!!
Recycle... Once is Not Enough
Recycle usable materials – Metal, paper, plastic, etc. Call 1-800-RECYCLE for drop off locations.
Be Aware of Storm Drains
The trash and toxins that are dumped on the street run straight to the beaches. If we reduce the amount of slime that goes into our storm drains, our oceans and beaches will be much healthier and happier.
|
People Cause Pollution; People Can Stop It
It's easy!! Next time you see trash lying on the ground, pick it up.
|
Don't Water the Driveway - It Won't Grow!
All that water washes the soap, oil and chemicals on the driveway, sidewalk and street straight to the beach and into the ocean.
|
Storm Drain Marking
Place markers or stencil the storm drains on your school property, reminding people not to dump or throw anything into the storm drain. Contact us at (858) 792-9940 or Contact Us for the stencils.
